Pokémon : Detective Pikachuis a devotee ’s pipe dream . We would have never imagined that we ’d see the pocket monster we grew up pile up as children in live action on the big blind . indisputable , the property is so popular it was bind to happen , but there was something dreamlike to see it in real life . While there is plenty of buff military service , we could n’t help but note a few notable faces were missing . Rhydon
Rhydon was the first Pokémon ever designed , and while we think the film ’s establishing shot was consummate , it would have been a nice touch to see him first . Sure , that scene would have to be reworked a routine , but it would have been a keen nod to the franchise , and would probably get rooter jittery right from the beginning . If that could n’t work , he should have had a cameo in the hugger-mugger fighting conference . His armored aesthetic , drill - horn , and tight behaviour would have made him jibe right in perfectly in a scenery that ask the most daunting Pokémon possible .
Mudkip
Mudkip was easily the most pop Generation III starter . Not just because he is the best choice of the three — the other two being Treecko and Torchic — but because his adorable face sour him into the random " I herd u liek Mudkips " meme . That reason alone should have given him a bit in the moving picture , and it could have added to the viral solicitation the film garnered .
Still , his amphibian blueprint would have been really interesting to see in a more realistic stage setting .
Jolteon
lease ’s face facts , Joleteon is the best Eveelution ( OK , that ’s not an accusative statement , but we abide by it ) , and it ’s a criminal offense that the one shot of the furry dog - Pokémon evolving ensue in Flarion . That was a safe pick from a innovation perspective , but it would have been way more interesting to see the jagged boundary of Jolteon in its plaza . Not only that but as a fellow galvanising character , it would have added a squeamish touching when our hoagie Tim Goodman ( Justice Smith ) finally face the movie ’s antagonist who was holding the Evee before it evolved .
Mimikyu
Detective Pikachuwould have been the perfect movie to introduce Mimikyu , one of the most sympathetic Pokémon ever made . His back story is so heartrending , he ’d endear himself to fans and non - fans likewise . The small trace character Pokémon is unable to find sunlight on its hide , and the very sight of it will cause people to get gruesome , so he has to be hidden underneath a velum . With all of that to conduct with , Mimikyu designed his article of clothing to attend like Pikachu in an attempt to make booster .

Alakazam
Alakazam is one of the coolest Pokémon ever . As the final organic evolution of Abra , this dual - spooned fu - manchu rocking wizard boast some crazy speed to match his powerful psychic abilities . We could have witness some really interesting special effects with his office if they managed to gouge him in .
away from that , the film was really sluttish on psychic Pokémon — with the exception of Mewtwo — and we ca n’t mean of a more pop one than him .
Hitmonchan
We ’re not certain how we got a scene involving an underground Pokémon combat - club and Hitmonchan — a tool with real boxing glove as part of his body and the word " hit " in his name — did n’t make an appearance . He ’s a great belligerent and while Hitmonlee would have been a cool design as well , there ’s an charm with Hitmonchan that would make him perfect in the first - ever alive natural process Pokémon movie .
Nidoking/Nidoqueen
Nidoking and Nidoqueen typify the original concept of Pokémon . They ’re essentially little kaiju who are extremely knock-down and improbably intimidating . Their purpose are terrific too . Much like Rhydon , they rock an armored , spikey trunk , and a mean facial expression to boot . We ’re not precisely sure where these could be placed seeing as these two would require their own scenes , but these are some of the good Pokémon designs that deserve the alive - action treatment .
Note : Unlike the other launching , we put both Pokémon in this slaught see as the only major difference is gender . They ’re too similar to separate .
Rayquaza
With the Rayquaza post-horse cling over Goodman ’s bed the full moving-picture show , we thought it was a foregone decision we ’d see this Pokémon make a cameo . We palpate robbed . Put him in the picture , you cowards !
In realness , we get why he did n’t show . He would have steal Mewtwo ’s roaring , and the very existence of the poster gives us Leslie Townes Hope that another picture show down the line will give us a visual of this Pokémon . Until then , we will just stare yearningly at our holographic Rayquaza card with a deep sigh .
Ho-Oh
When we put this list together , it was difficult to choose between Ho - Oh and Lugia . Making a conclusion on this one hurt us on a bass level , but we come to this decisiveness for one simple reason — aesthetically , Ho - Oh would be beautiful to see on the heavy screen . As a massive bird with smart , colorful feathers , Ho - Oh would attend awesome in live - action , and considering this movie was a footling light on legendaries , this would have been a wild cameo to give fans a little additional .
Mew
If we have one ailment about how the Pokémon inDetective Pikachuwere handled , it ’s that Mew was left out of the movie . The whole plot revolved around the creation and internment of Mewtwo , yet , outside of a few references , the Pokémon who shares his desoxyribonucleic acid was not include .
The full picture shared a lot of similarity with 1998’sPokémon : The First Movie , which give fans a look into Mewtwo ’s origin .
