Earlier this summer , Gunn revealed that he had completed and work in thefirst draft of his script forGuardians of the Galaxy Vol . 3 , which he said he had poured his heart into . But then several of Gunn ’s old tweets resurfaced leading into San Diego Comic - Con 2018 - much of which were jokes on pedophilia and rape - that quick resulted in Walt Disney Studios firing Gunn from the project .
Since the determination to let go of Gunn came from the top - and not from Marvel Studios - it ’s unlikely that he will be rehired , but that ’s part of the grounds an on-line military campaign to get Gunn reinstate asGuardians of the Galaxy Vol . 3 ’s music director was launched in the first place ; fans conceive that Disney is overreacting to what is widely considered a smear effort . The cinema was originally slate tobegin product in former 2019 , in club to meet its doubtful 2020 going date , but that no longer seems to be the subject . Disney is reportedly inno kick to put back Gunn at this sentence . And since they fired Gunn as director , it ’s plausible that they will be attend for a writer to rework the script as well . This quote from Bautista is n’t too surprising given how devoted the actor has been to Gunn over the year and , especially , since the filmmaker ’s inflammation last month . While the entireGuardianscast penned an open letterin backing of Gunn , although they stopped short of explicitly requesting his reinstatement , Bautista has n’t hold in back his support for his former manager . He ’s repeatedly expressed his discontentedness with the state of affairs and blames Disney for give in to the political actions of a few . If Bautista does end up leaving the movie , then one way to end his tenure in the MCU would be to earmark his character reference to remain utter . After all , he was one of the citizenry who give-up the ghost inAvengers : Infinity War .
Regardless of what guide to Gunn ’s firing and what Disney ends up doing about the director , there ’s still the question about what will happen with the script . defender of the Galaxy Vol . 3was meant to set upa more cosmic - oriented MCU , while also presumably concluding the story arcs for this fussy superhero squad .
