Djimon Hounsou is building up some serious nerd cred . After voicing King Ricou inAquaman , Hounsou will also come out in the upcomingShazamas the Wizard who gives Billy Batson his powers . However , Hounsou ’s first big silver screen comical book role was as Korath in 2014’sGuardians of the Galaxy , a purpose he is returning to inCaptain Marvel .

Korath wo n’t be the same hombre we met inGuardians of the Galaxy , however . Captain Marvelis precede us to Korath before the event ofGuardians ; a member of the Kree ’s elect Starforce , Korath is very much the straight man to Carol ’s sarcasm .

Hounsou sat down with Screen Rant to discourse what he ’s bring to the quality this time around , what Starforce get up to in the film and what quality to expect from the film when it hit sieve in a duo of calendar month .

What can you bozo say about the differences in this character from when we ’ve take on him ?

Djimon Hounsou : Not much of a difference with Korath , other than he ’s still the pursuer , the killing machine , as we came to meet him the first time in the first " Guardians " . He ’s slightly untested here . Other than that he ’s still the same killing machine .

Can you babble about Korath ’s role in the Starforce ?

Scarlet Witch looking disappointed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

Djimon Hounsou : Korath , obviously he ’s a phallus of the Starforce , just being on a foreign mission . It ’s just so dim as a question to be very specific . Again , some of these tale , forgive me for say , but we ’re gon na have to be lighthearted about it . That ’s the nature of those characters , and where the costume itself is a character and must exist and be featured . Korath is still the chaser .

What can you tell us about the tantrum we ’ve been watching today , of them coming back from the mission ?

Djimon Hounsou : The panorama today is mostly about the Starforce Team going on a foreign mission to find the subject basically . We ’re heading on a commission , we ’re not back from the deputation yet , we do n’t know what the mission reserves- what are the attributes around the mission and sure the issues around the military mission - we do n’t bonk that yet . So , we ’re just manoeuvre to the mission . Supposed to be a simple mission .

What are those thing you guys are being pushed in and out of ? Are you lead to slumber or are you being spat out somewhere ?

Djimon Hounsou : It is some sort of sleep help , if you will . It ’s your Ambien . That ’s your Ambien for the long distance we must comprehend . That ’s our futurist " Let me put you out for the meter - being " .

When we see you inGuardians of the Galaxy , Korath has a different aspect to him . Does this film take us on a journey where you see where he ’s go towards that ?

Korath The Pursuer Guardians of the Galaxy

Djimon Hounsou : To detect Korath ?

Or to get him to that , where we meet him before .

Djimon Hounsou : No . This is a totally separate story , standalone story , nothing to do with Guardians other than the fact that some of those characters interact with each other later . Other than that , no . It ’s very dissimilar from Guardians , yes .

Djimon Hounsou as Korath in Guardians of the Galaxy

Was there anything that you were particularly aroused about exploring in this new interpretation of a character that you ’d already play ?

Djimon Hounsou : What I would like to explore , which we really do n’t have the time for : how do you create a automobile from its infant microscope stage ? And how it evolved ? Because I ’m also guess , for the character ’s sake , mapping out its backstory , and its backstory , we really ca n’t get to it , do really it ’s not that interesting . What ’s interesting is when they come together to accomplish a mission . But , to attempt to sympathise a machine at its sister stage , very evolve in the future , I ’m not quite sure yet . This is a world that we ’re all just , as much as we ’re very extraneous to that landscape , it ’s a very creative cognitive process for us also , to seek to grasp the public we ’re in . But the thing that ’s exciting about this , I remember we ’re pop out to see our first Captain , our first " she - ro " , as far as America is touch . Captain Marvel is our first she - ro . So it ’s dainty to see her from the early age of the former 90 to now . I cogitate that was passably coolheaded .

What ’s been your impression about Brie in the role ?

Korath the Pursuer Guardians of the Galaxy

Djimon Hounsou : Of Brie ? Oh , it ’s been wonderful . She ’s very much a lady , but very much hoydenish as well . I mean , she had to be . She ’s that character of the lady friend who does it all but does not carry herself like a little young lady , if you will . More like an officer of that period , who has a serious mission and serious issues that she has to deal with . But yeah , she ’s play to work with .

Most actors tend to take a part of themselves in association-

Djimon Hounsou : Well , I always say " We are the instruments of rendering " , therefore , a part of ourselves can be left in some of those stories . Inevitably .

Captain Marvel Starforce

So , what part of you do you recall is most physically challenging ?

Djimon Hounsou : Well , I just say the animalism already and my make - up as a person of all place , I wanna say . Born in Africa , raised in France , in Europe , and came here and literally and made my living here , came to work out my aspiration here . So it ’s pretty amazing to have lived in three different Continent . So it makes me very worldly . I like that .

And you ’ve go to space , now .

Captain Marvel

Djimon Hounsou : Yeah , I ’ve gone to distance a distich of times , thanks .

So Korath is on Starforce with Carol , and could you talk about what is their kinship like ? What does Korath recollect of Carol ? .

Djimon Hounsou : As far as story based uniquely on this is concerned , I experience like Carol is the character of soul that takes a joy at taking the pee at me all the metre , cause I ’m sort of very political machine - like , very framed , very driven . The want of not being so flexible and playful , she takes a piss at that , I cerebrate .

How would you compare the humor in this movie to something likeGuardians of the Galaxy ?

Djimon Hounsou : Oh , it ’s very close . Again , I have n’t been that much in this one to but , there ’s a bit of a kind of humor within the unit of measurement of the Starforce . It ’s quite nice humor . I ’m guessing the whole picture show will have a idle outlook on the material .

I know when you didGuardians , cause you really want to see your kids see you in a moving-picture show like that … What ’s the shudder this time around for you ?

Djimon Hounsou : Well the thrill for me this time around is not even so much about this plastic film , other than the fact that it ’s great to be part of this one , but I opine the one that really leverage all films for me , it ’s Black Panther . In a agency that I ’ve never hear in my own res publica , championing our kids , going to film . parent are even putting money on the side for them to just get that one ticket to go and see a moving-picture show like that . It was historic . I mean , it gives me chills . You guys do n’t love here , how it is over there . We seldom ever- do n’t have many theaters in the country to begin with , and the couple of theaters that we have … You have Universal , Vivendi , you name it , the French party , that ’s going around certain countries in Africa and open theaters , a chain of dramatic art .

Basically , Black Panther came out the date it came out here , come out there the same time , same day , and it was unbelievable to see African kid really driven to go see a cinema for the first time . It ’s rare . Do you see what I mean ? And that really made that moving picture , and made the minority , the people that we less see on screen , as Cuban sandwich . All of a sudden , have a place to have an identity on screen , and that was quite knock-down . And I think it revolutionize all stories of that nature , of superheroes now . Now I think for all superhero films , gives even effective leveraging in a way a passel of masses , even in a minority who were never really excited about those case of moving picture , now are gon na be face at it because they ’re also looking at it with the livelihood of Black Panther within the whole background . I ’m guessing it ’ll really have a potent encroachment go forward .
