After Gambit and hisnew wife , Roguereturned from adventures in the Mojoverse , they divided to curb disjoined delegation . Rogue AKA was summoned to help Captain Marvel ’s team of women escape Manhattan , as Gambit AKA return home to New Orleans , to restart his position as loss leader of the secretive Thieves Guild … or so he thought . When Gambit arrive home , he discovers he ’s been dethroned– ( and by one of his long time enemy ) .
Gambit has always been rough around the bound , with many of the XTC - Men even struggling to swear him due to his connecter to the criminal Thieves Guild . For fans who may have forgotten , Gambit grew up on the street of New Orleans with a gang of thieves , – until one mean solar day he pick - pocketed the wrong guy wire : Jean - Luc LeBeau . It may have been the right guy wire , in the end , since Jean - Luc occur to be the head of the Thieves Guild at the clock time , and decided to adopt Remy as his own .
The Thieves Guild and Assassins Guild have always been at warfare , and in an attempt to lend the two secret guild together , Gambit married Bella Donna Boudreaux . This did n’t last long , as Gambit finally killed her crony after the wedding , and their wedding was annulled , and Gambit exiled . It was only then that he encounter and joined forces with the X - Men , but long time afterward he found his fashion back to the Thieves Guild – and became the order ’s King . At their house heating political party back inMr . and Mrs. X # 6 , Bella Donna came to warn Gambit and Rogue that there was turmoil among the Thieves Guild .
It ’s only now that Gambit lastly has the fourth dimension to go check it out . When he go far he realizes that most of his thieves think he is numb , so he drop in to let them know reports of his death were greatly exaggerated . Unfortunately for Gambit , his men do not welcome him with subject arms . Why ? Because someone has stolen the power while he was away . That wo n’t be a surprisal , since … Thieves Guild . But what may amount as a impact to lector is that this supplanter is supposed to dead . Like , really dead . Candra die violently back inCable # 154 , but she is now alert and well ( and in a much younger body ) . And Gambit ? He ’s now the foe .
Candra just so happens to be someone Gambit has had several footrace - ins with over the years . But not only does she seem to be lead the Guild , she is also working with the drumhead of the Assassins Guild , Bella Donna – Remy ’s ex . Rogue avail relieve Manhattan alongside Captain Marveljust in time , because she get Gambit and attempts to lay aside him . As thing always seem to go with the two of them , she is captured as well .
Now they both have index suppressing collars on and Candra and Bella Donna are about to sacrifice Rogue ! Will the X - Men couple make it out active ? And if so , will they be able to stop Candra , Bella Donna , and the Guilds from whatever destructive architectural plan they have up their sleeves ? Most significantly … will Gambit have to give up his title as the King of thief for in effect ?
