The Lion King
Disney unveiled brand - new footage from its " live - action " remake ofThe Lion Kingat CinemaCon . The Mouse House has savour great boxwood office success with the live - activity remakes of its animated features for the past nine years , and hop to keep that tendency going in 2019 . So far , however , things have n’t fit completely to plan , what with Tim Burton’sDumboremake fight to recuperate its budgetat the boxwood office . That say , the studio apartment is expected to have better luck with Guy Ritchie’sAladdinat the death of May , and especially Jon Favreau’sThe Lion Kingin July .
Favreau , of course , has a strong track record in this department , and is come off the monumental success of Disney ’s Oscar - winningThe Jungle Bookthree years ago . The Lion Kingwill stick with in that movie ’s footsteps and re - imagine its traditionally animated predecessor as a photorealistic CGI dangerous undertaking , pure with celebrity actors bestow their voice to the film ’s brute . At the same meter , The Lion Kingappears to be a somewhat faithful re - imagining , more so thanThe Jungle Bookwas . That ’s certainly the impression that the film ’s drone have left , and the CinemaCon footage did piddling to dispute the idea .

The Lion Kingsegment of Disney ’s CinemaCon presentation feature a clip from moderately early in the film , when a young Simba ( JD McCrary ) badgers a sleeping Mufasa ( James Earl Jones , reprise his iconic character ) , reminding him of his hope to rent Simba accompany him on his patrol of the Pride Lands . While there were slight differences in the dialogue between the footage and the same scene from the animated picture , the chronological succession mostly played out the same , with Mufasa add vital life lessons to Simba about how"A world-beater ’s time uprise and descend like the sunlight " . However , he also has some fresh pieces of wisdom to pass onto his young Word , like how the Pride Lands"[belong ] to no one , but it will be yours to protect " .
There were other small , but notable differences between this scene and the adaptation in the animatedLion King . For example , Mufasa does n’t say the shadowy realm of the Pride Lands ( e.g. where the hyenas live ) is beyond their borders , and indicates that the area is part of their kingdom … but Simba still should n’t go there . He also touches on a big businessman ’s responsibility as the brace walk among the field of the Pride Lands , note that"While others search for what they can take , a true king search for what he can give " . ultimately , the scene ends on a curious tone as the pair cross paths with Mufasa ’s hornbill advisor Zazu , who proceeds to deliver his morning report … before Simba pounces on him , at Mufasa ’s behest . Since Zazu is sound by John Oliver in this motion picture , the lineament feel like a bit of a riff on his persona as the host of HBO’sLast Week Tonight . He even cracks a caper about the kingdom ’s birds"tweeting"at 4 in the morning ( nictitation wink , nudge nudge ) .
All in all , The Lion Kingcontinues to sound pretty superposable to the animated rendering , as far as the plot and theatrical role dynamics are concerned . At the same time , the film appear to be making some revisions and tweaks to the original movie , in an elbow grease to " update " it for 2019 ( similar towhatDumboand the other Disney alive - action remakeshave done before it ) . It ’ll sure enough be interesting to see just how similar the genuine movie is to the 1994 looping , and whether it ’s more or less capable to stand on its own , the way of life Favreau’sThe Jungle Bookdid
