have-to doe with : Ragnarok Reveals The REAL Reason Odin strip Thor of His Power

This week’sThor#10 finally reveals why Odin first called Thor the ' God of Thunder . ' Odin is n’t in a good mood ; frankly , he ’s strike stone bottom and is drowning his sorrows in Margaret Mead . When Thor arrives on the scene , Odin is ineffective to have back from speaking password he ’ll everlastingly repent . Making the confrontation even more heartrending , the All - Father ’s thoughts contrast absolutely with his words , but he ’s simply unable to work out how to say how much he rightfully loves his boy , and it eventually ends in a free-for-all .

Yet amidst the disaster and interpersonal dramatic event , there ’s a touch of body fluid to equilibrate it out as the All - Father remembers when Thor was a baby … andterrifiedof storms . Odin first called him the God of Thunder out of"mocking contempt,“even if he is quite proud of the fact that his son has more than grow into the title .

On the typeface of it , this is just an amusing joke on the part of writer Jason Aaron . In reality , though , it carries far greater meaning . This revelation suggests that Thor was n’t pay God of Thunder , but rather that hebecameit ; that he reject to be mock , and was refractory and stiff - willed enough to face his cryptic concern and even lay claim them as an inextricable part of his very personal identity . Thor   is n’t God of Thunder because of the speciality of his big businessman , but because of the metier of his character .

This subtly reworks the theme of " worthiness " in the strip . There ’s a sense in which Thor was proving himself worthy long before he ever managed to lift Mjolnir for the first time . Tragically , though , his father either could n’t see it , or was just unequal to of saying it . The issue features a number of flashback scenes in which Thor and Odin talk , including one in which Thor rushes to his father to distinguish him he has finally been able to pick up the hammer . Rather than express pride in his boy ’s worthiness , all Odin handle to say is , " Where did you find that sometime thing ? " The issue shows the broken relationship between Thor and his All - Father , and by the end of the offspring they are more distant than ever before , even come to blows . make this all the more painful to take is the fact that Odin on the QT is majestic of his son , and really does screw that Thor has triumphed over his every fear . But he ’s just unable to say it .
