During an audience with theHappy Sad Confused Podcast , the Russo brother were demand why Cap is worthy to lift the pound now but not duringAvengers : Age of Ultron . Anthony explain that in their mind he always has been able-bodied to do this , but he elected not to before .

Prior to this explanation by the Russo brothers , many had theorized that Cap knowing that Bucky was the one who stamp out Iron Man ’s parents was the intellect he was deemed not suitable . Covering up such a major while of information and hop that Iron Man would never find out is a very good ground for why Mjolnir shift but would n’t allow Cap entirely sneak it in that moment . But , since he was forced to take this reality inCaptain America : Civil War , he would then be suitable inAvengers : Endgame .
This is not the compositor’s case , at least as far as the Russos are concerned , and they use Thor ’s follow-up line of"I knew it"to the moment inAvengers : Endgameas further proof that Thor roll in the hay Cap was worthy all along too . It make for a ok explanation , but does eliminate any tie of Cap lifting Mjolnir to his tumid electric discharge , which may be somewhat disappointing for those who liked the Bucky / Iron Man rationalization rather . That said , Cap picking up Mjolnir is a great moment ofAvengers : Endgameno matter what the explanation is for his worthiness now or in the past .
