Sony holds the movie right to hundreds of Marvel Comics characters , and though they ’ve set up a couple motion-picture show series based on Spider - Man , they ’re now looking to the webslinger ’s related characters for their next enfranchisement . Kicking off with Ruben Fleischer’sVenomlater this year , starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock , the studio apartment has a numeral of projects in various stages of development focalise on Marvel characters .
One such project was the Silver Sable and Black Cat team - up movie being written by Prince - Bythewood , who was also expected to direct . Sony originally slatedSilver and Blackfor a February 2019 sacking appointment , but when little else was heard about the project - include cast of the two female leads - many began to wonder what was hold up on . The loss of Prince - Bythewood would be inauspicious for Sony since the music director has proven herself skilful in the superhero genre with her work onMarvel ’s Cloak and Dagger , the YA - geared show that premiere on Freeform before this summertime . Still , since it seems Sony and Prince - Bythewood have n’t yet get to a determination about what her exact involvement will be in either movies , fans can hope she may remain on board at least one undertaking .
