Vanity Fair’srecentStar war 9spreadincluded an image of John Williams conducting the movie ’s grade . In the ground of the photo was a shot of Leia on a jungle planet . Reddit userDentfaceposted an upscaled / enhanced version of Leia , which you could see in the space below :
At first glance , this image of Leia seems to haveoriginated from the scene towards the end ofForce Awakens , when Leia offer farewell to Rey before the young pack rat heads off to Ahch - To . There are some clear digital touchups to make Leia appear older , such as graying her fuzz along the sides and weathering her peel . This was obviously done to reflectthe clip jump betweenLast JediandStar Wars 9 , which is said to be about a year ( a knifelike aid to detail on the part of the crew ) . It ’s obscure if other elements , like Leia ’s costume and coiffure , were digitally fudge as well , but the end result looks very seamless . This also raises the question of how much of the Fisher footage was shot in front of a green screen , which would make things a stack easier for Abrams and caller onRise of Skywalker .
Obviously , this would n’t top an officially release HD still of Leia fromStar war 9 , but it still works quite well to give fans an idea of what Abrams is go for with this approach . There are still a few enquiry regarding Leia ’s role that need to be resolve , and hopefully some of those bed will be peel back as the marketing campaign continue . WithThe boost of Skywalkerbeing the final installment in the saga before Lucasfilm moves on to new stories , there ’s a unassailable pauperization and desire to give Leia a meet and proper sendoff . unluckily , veridical life history force the studio to change their plans , but they seem to be doing the full they can with the resources available .
