With $ 5.7 billion in worldwide gross , X - Menhas indeedbeen a major franchise for Foxover the past 20 year . Of course , the route has sometimes been a rough one as fan have not always been totally thrilled with some of the choice that have been made over the years . By and large , hardcore ten - Men fans have objected to Wolverine being placed front - and - shopping centre in the enfranchisement , though in recent year the main films have leaned less on the character as he ’s spin off to his own adventures . Of course , the 10 - Men flag has also been carried over the retiring few years by Deadpool , and indeed Fox ’s two irreverentDeadpoolfilms proved the most successful entry in the serial .
Where X - Men goes from here is anyone ’s guess , but for now Fox seems contented to look back on the past of the franchise while getting ready for one last big adventure withDark Phoenix .
