Since then , the Original Five have shinny to consider with the world of the macrocosm they will help to work up . It ’s been particularly hard for Cyclops and Jean Grey , who learned of a hereafter in which one was think to have committed genocide , and the other was blamed for the death of entire worlds . They ’ve recently instruct thatthe original X - Men must return to their own timein order to fix the fate of the timeline , but the teen are clearly reluctant to do so ; they experience their computer memory will somehow be erased , they ’ll fall behind every object lesson they ’ve learned from this experience , and their destiny will be seal .

All that ’s amount to a top dog inthis week’sExtermination#1 , an event miniseries that sees a time - traveller emerge from the future , determined to pull them to go home . He ’s fleetly opposed by another time - traveler , Cable - and things do n’t go well for Nathan Dayspring Summers . Cable is gunned down down , his death causing a psychical shockwave that alert the decade - Men to what ’s going on . They rush to his side , the unlike 10 - Men team united in heartache at the expiration of one of their own . It ’s particularly atrocious forthe freshly - resurrected Jean Grey , who has barely had the chance to pass any time with her son before she look down at his cool down body .
But time - travel is complicated . There appear to be two dangerous factions at work here , not just one . The first - who targeted the All - raw X - Men originally in the issue - is Ahab , a mutant hunter from the " Days of Future Past " timeline . The slaying has been commit by the second , though , and his identity is a wonderful twist . The issue fill up with the revelation that Cable ’s slayer is in reality a jr. version of Cable himself . Little wonder the liquidator stood over his fallen future ego and snarkily observe , " Old fall guy , you really should have seen that come . "
The X - Men comics have always delighted in using metre - travel as a major plot gimmick ; it ’s the drive construct behind important arcs like " Days of Future Past , " " Age of Apocalypse , " " X - Cutioner ’s Song , " and " Battle of the Atom . " It seems this latest case , " Extermination , " is designate to explore the same kind of ideas - but in saucy and exciting path . There ’s a heartbreaking good sense of conclusiveness to the musical theme that Cable could only be drink down by Cable . What ’s more , given the event ’s forbidding title , it ’s likely Cable will only be the first casualty .
